A Career Dead End Will Ruin Your Resume - Avoid It
A Career Dead End Will Ruin Your Resume - Avoid ItThere is one common mistake most of the writers of resumes make which is the listing of a career dead end as their current job. Such a listing should be avoided and it should always be mentioned that there is no such job for the applicant and that the applicant is looking for something new. The resume should be reviewed if the professional looking job section contains a resume listing such a dead end and should be removed from the resume. There are many reasons why a resume should not be listed as a career dead end. It is a waste of space, it means that the applicant does not really want to know more about the particular work at hand and it is also not needed by the employer. The purpose of this list is to scare the applicant off so that he/she will start asking more questions which will be answered by the resume by the applicant in the future. This section should be avoided as much as possible. The reason is because it would confuse th e reader and it would seem as if the applicant did not get that job. A job listing in a resume needs to be clear cut and easy to understand.Another mistake that is making the resume industry look bad is that some resume writer uses the word career dead end to explain the current employment situation of the applicant. This causes many applicants to consider it as an appropriate description of their current situation. In a way, the applicant might actually make it worse. The first thing to do when having a discussion with the employer is to request for clarifications. The applicant should ask if the job does not mean a career dead end. The employer may reply saying that the applicant is just looking for a job.It is important to remember that any job will mean more than a job. The applicant should give up the old job and apply for a new one. If the employer sees that the applicant has changed jobs, then the employer will be impressed and hence the relationship between them will go up.On ce the applicant gives up the old job and applies for a new one, he/she will definitely get a bit of a shock when the employer looks at the applicant's past employment. The employer may ask for details and may even ask the applicant to answer some questions. The applicant should answer all these questions properly so that the employer gets a clear idea about the applicant's current position. It is a bad idea to list a job as a career dead end. So, before the resume is written to try and avoid such a listing.
